Day 44 September 15 Chatham to Port Burwell

Out of Chatham, I expected to see Lake Erie. But most of the roads I rode on along the shore of Lake Erie were not next to the water. They went through the typical farm landscape as before, more soybean, corn, elevators and silos, and wind turbines. Red apples in an orchard were very attempting.

There was a Crazy Eight Barn on the roadside. Later I found out that it was first constructed in the late 1890s. The octagon shape was rare for a barn.

I finally had a chance to be on the shore of Lake Erie. It was a very quiet lake from what I could tell. I didn’t see any boat on it.

I was disappointed that the campsite I chose was next to the lake but in the woods. I couldn’t see the lake and there was not even an easy path to the lake.
