Video: A horse buggy on the road
Out of Stanley I was soon on dirt roads in a remote farmland again. The paved Willow Rd became unpaved, giving me a hard time to negotiate with the uneven surfaces. The familiar scene of corn and soybean fields with grain elevators and silos in the distance returned. Some crops had started to turn brown. Harvest time was coming. The flight formation of geese (Canada geese, I assume) was always fun to watch.
The town I passed on the trail were getting bigger – judged by their larger cemeteries. Some small towns were established by the Polish. Some of them still keep the Polish culture. I saw a banner of a Mazur Festival. In winter, snowmobiles must be the main transportation or recreational tools. The Central Lakes Trail in MN is a snowmobile trail in winter. A horse buggy passed by. I was not sure if the driver is Amish or Mennonite.
Passed through Wausau and settled in Weston for the night.
