Continued on the Central Lakes Trail. What special about this trail was the mile marker for every mile, sometimes an old rail marker and a new trail marker standing side by side. The trail was connected to Wobegon Trail. In addition to all the strong women, handsome men, and above average children, all dogs on the Wobegon trail were Westminster winners.
In a small town Freeport, there is a gorgeous church. To my surprise it was open. My impression had been that churches in the US open only for scheduled services while in Europe and South America they open all the time. In the next town, Albany MN I saw another one also open. I was about to correct my perception about US churches until I saw more but they were all closed. Not sure why those two were special.
There were many solar farms along the trail, which I didn’t see in ND and MT. But no wind turbines.
Crossed the Mississippi River at Monticello, MN. After Otsego, I was on the Mississippi Trail. Some of it was designated and paved bike trail, others followed local roads.
Coon Rapids is a suburb of Minneapolis to its north. Peter stayed here last night. I thought we would meet here but he moved to southern Minneapolis to stay with his friends. We decided to meet tomorrow on the road.
