Day 14 August 16 Chatcolet to Wallace

Video: Crossing Lake Coeur d’Alene

Big rain to the west on radar maps in the morning. Some drops fell on us. We waited until we thought the main part of the rain system would not be over us before we started. We still got caught by showers soon after we started. What can one (Peter) and a half (me) meteorologists predict?!

We rode on the Trail of Coeur d’Alenes to the end. It is one of the best in the US. It goes through the Coeur d’Alene River Wildlife Management Area with many lakes and rivers. There are toilets and chairs every 10 miles or so. It attracts bikers from all places. I met bikers from Lake Tahoe, Atlantic, and Omaha.  We saw one adult and two junior moose next to the trail.

Settled in Wallace Inn, ID. It is a nice two-floor hotel but without an elevator. Our room was on the second floor. Hotel guests had fun watching us carrying our bikes and bags up and down on the stairs in the grand hall of the hotel. There was a Huckberry festival that weekend. But we didn’t have time for that.
