Journals

The trip journals document my experiences riding across 10 state (province) from the West to East Coast of the North America. The journals includes texts, maps, photos and videos. They are arranged by the states (province) I went through, then by the days in each state (province). Within each day, there is a static map and interactive map that show the route of that day. The interactive map allows viewers to see the elevations of the route, zoom in to see more details or zoom out to see the large regional perspectives, and see selected photos taken along the route (locations marked by the camera signs). Noise of the videos are mostly from the wind. I used the voice control of the GoPro camera and had its mic on.

Viewers can navigate through the journals by going through day by day using the “Previous Day” and “Next Day” buttons, select particular days from a state (province) page, or move from state (province) to state (province) on this page or using the “Previous State” and “Next State” button on each state page. On any page, clicking the title “Chidong Zhang’s WA2MA Bike Trip” would go back to the home page.

It is my hope that reviewers may have a virtual tour following the routes I took by going through the journals and have a glimpse of what I saw on my trip. Even the journals are long, my trip only sliced through the vast land of North America. Nevertheless, the sliced view may give viewers new perspectives about the people, the country, and the land, as it gave to me.
